~Prologue~
On one misty spring evening, two young children met at the lake in the woods. They had never seen each other before...never met each other before...they were strangers to each other. Yet through caution and timidness they finally were able to become the best of friends. They played together and talked together all day, every day. Their friendship lasted until they became ten years old. For the morning of the girl's tenth birthday, she awoke to find that her family had a surprise for her...they were moving to the city. Their little daughter had always wanted to move to the city...see the big buildings...experience what it was like to be in a busy crowd...but not without her best friend. Devastation came across her when she was told that this move was permanent...and that she would never come back to the woods she always knew, felt comfortable in, and to the friend she always loved. She was told to go say goodbye to her friend...her only friend in this terrible world...To his dismay, he listened to every tearful word she choked out. He promised to her that whatever it took, whatever he had to go through, he would find her. When her parents called her away from him, for the very last time, he suddenly realized that out of all those fun times together that they had, he realized that they had never exchanged names.........

~Chapter One~
"Really, Jule, I think you should go for it!" My best friend, Leslie, begged me. We had just caught one of the hottest guys in school, Mark Bullis, hitting on me. I rolled my sparkling aqua green eyes and said, "Come on, you know he was just playing around." Juliet Woodson had no intention to date Mark, no matter how charming he was. She looked around. She and her friends had just finally gotten out of a horrifying, five day a week, 7 hours a day prison. That's right, school. Luckily for them, it was Wednesday. Friday would be their last class and then they would finally get that summer vacation that they all deserved. Juliet breathed out a sigh of relief and asked, "Leslie, can you sleepover tonight?" Without even batting an eye, Leslie said confidently, "Sure." They had sleepovers at least once a week...sometimes every other day. Besides, Leslie's parents were divorced, and her dad let her do almost anything she wanted. Juliet said, "Okay then, see ya later." She smiled, then started walking across the street to her neighborhood. She loved walking. Walking helped her think...it helped her sort out the ideas in her mind. In her little cycle of thinking, she suddenly came across the thought of Mark. She sighed and remembered her crush on Mark...from four years ago. She was twelve then. She remembered sitting in the back of the class, always watching him carefully, examining every detail on his perfect skin. She remembered sneaking out on Thursdays to watch his basketball practice. But most of all, she remembered leaving love notes on his desk...and finding every single one of those notes in the trash. Finally, she got over him, and just in time for high school. Even though she still got butterflies in her stomach whenever someone mentioned his name, she was done with him. But now, she's 16, and he comes back and has this big love for her? Juliet just couldn't find an answer to his sudden act of passion for her, but before she could think anymore, she felt a powerful body lunge onto her back...it was Victor. Her best male friend.
