- A Long, Long Sleep - Roleplay -

Based on Anne Sheehan's book: A Long, Long Sleep. You don't need to have read the book to join this role-play, even I haven't read it. xD My mom just told me about the book. :] It's set in the future, when a special sleep thing called Stasis sleep is invented. (It's where you can be put to sleep in this tube, and be awakened later on in a few weeks, months, years, etc. and still be the same age I guess.

-STORYLINE-

You live in a world full of modern day miracles. Many marvelous things have been invented, and all these things better your every day human life. However, when a disease spreads across your town, your parents decide to put you into stasis sleep. After being placed in the stasis bed, and being 'shut down', some people bring you downstairs to a room filled with many other people in stasis sleep. However, the disease wiped everyone out and you were never woken up from the stasis...until 64 years had passed. When someone finds you and awakens you, everyone and everything you ever knew in life is long gone, and you must re-discover life. You can barely walk, eat, or do anything; and basically must be taught how to do everything...all over again. So your first post should take place when someone wakes you up, and you can barely move...and then the role-play will just go on about you re-discovering life. ((I know it's kinda complicated, but just trust me. xD))

-CHARACTERS-

In this role-play, there are two different types of characters:

PERSON FROM THE PAST: Someone who has been put in the Stasis Sleep and has to re-discover everything, after being awoken 64 years later.

PERSON FROM THE PRESENT: This person can wake people up from Stasis, and teach them the new ways of life...or just be a regular citizen from the present.

"Umm I think its sometime in February...February the 17th?" She smiled and asked, "Jasey, what is your dream?"

Jasey blushed and turned red. "Ah, it's kinda stupid, really.. I'd kinda like to become a successful singer and songwriter.." She shrugged. "It'll probably never happen. Um, Kyle, what's your favorite color?"

Kyle shrugged. "I dunno...I guess I like green, I guess." He smiled and added, "Are you kidding Jasey?? Did you not see everyone crowded around you when you were singing?" He chuckled and said, "Yo Reese, your dream?"

"Well, yeah, but.. it wasn't a big crowd.. Besides, I can't even sing that well; and my songs are cruddy." Jasey shrugged.

"Eh, I guess I'd like to be an artist.. Or maybe an illustrator." Reese said. "Mani, your dream?"

Mani giggled and said, "A writer...I've always loved writing..." She smiled and said, "THAT's my favorite thing to do also, I finally remembered." She smiled at Jasey and asked, "Jasey, what's your favorite original song?"

"Oh, I've written a lot.. But I'd say either Love Life, All About Us, or Tell me why." Jasey smiled and looked down. "What's your favorite story you've written?"

Mani frowned suddenly. She was able to mutter, "Jasey, all the books that I've written were left behind...I don't remember any..." Her smile returned briefly. "Except for one...a book called The Horizon Never Ends. It's where a class takes a school field trip to a desert, and then two of the kids get left behind somehow, and those kids absolutely hate each other and are the biggest enemies ever...I think...then, they have to travel across the desert and find their way back home, at least I'm pretty sure. But along the way they become better friends and, even more..." She smiled and asked Kyle, "What's your dream?" Kyle rolled his eyes, "I dunno. I guess if I could choose something, it would be...well, I'm...pretty good...at the drums..." He mumbled so quietly. "I guess I would form a band or somethin...but there's always the wild dream of being a casino owner and gettin all the chic-girls there." He winked playfully. "Jasey, what's your favorite day of the week?"

"That sounds like an interesting book, Mani." Jasey smiled. "Um, I guess Saturday.. They're always fun. When's your birthday, Kyle?"

Kyle stared at the ceiling and said, without blinking an eye, "October 13th." He sat up and said, "And your birthday, Jasey?"

"December 24th.. Christmas Eve." Jasey laughed a bit. "Mani, what's your favor-"

"Jasey Rae? Are you ready for your tests?" Doctor Morgan entered the room with the same cart again. "I'm afraid I'll have to ask you all to leave the room."

Kyle made a casual salute motion towards Jasey as he sauntered out of the room. Mani squeezed Jasey's hand then said, "Good luck. Don't be scared." She smiled then followed Kyle out of the room.

((I was going to wait to make this character, but since you made some new ones, you don't mind if I make him now, do ya?? I realized we need a boy from the past lol))

Name: Seth Baker

Age: (Don't add the 64 years to it, just what age they left off at)) 15

Looks: Seth has brown/black hair which is always in a curly afro. He has very tan skin, dark brown eyes, a strong nose, a very masculine face. He's very athletic and everyone knew him at school as the Jock.

Personality: Seth has major trust issues. He has a hard time making great friends with just one person. He loves sports, especially football. He is VERY friendly and says hi to just random people.

Is your character from the past or present?: the past

Some things s/he left behind (family members, friends, his/her dream, etc.): He left behind a harsh life. His parents were alcoholics, so he and his three brothers helped to raise the youngest, Shaylin.

Mani looked up when she heard her name. "Yay! Finally...Reese, Kyle you coming??" Kyle shrugged and said, "Actually I think I'll go back to work...your not the only one to help recover from stasis sleep, Mani." He turned and walked back to the stasis center. Mani frowned slightly.

((Yeah. xD))

Mani sat down in a chair next to him and smiled. "Don't worry, that'll wear off soon. I imagine being numb is somewhat like...waking up out of stasis sleep." She said with a large smile. "Would you like anything? A soda? Water? Maybe an extra pillow?"

Kyle entered the Stasis Center building, and checked in for his shift. One of the assistants came up to him and gave him a chart of who needed to be helped out of Stasis Sleep. He nodded and said, "Okay. Thanks." With a wink. He walked over to the two on the list, deciding he wanted to awake the male first. He was tired of girls and their drama, he needed a break. He pressed a button on the case which started releasing an awakening gas into the tank. After awhile he knocked on the glass and said, "Knock, knock?" Seth squeezed his eyes shut. He was used to his oldest brother, Ricky, waking him up in many annoying ways, especially during summer like it was...well 64 years ago it was his summer break, but this must've been the worst. He didn't have any idea what was happening. "R--uckiy...weave my awome...." His eyes bolted open. He couldn't speak or move or...anything. He figured it was his second oldest brother and his pranks...maybe he duct taped his mouth and his body to the bed? But no, he looked up at the face of Kyle. Trying to press hard on the glass with his hands, he glared at Kyle. "Who arw yooou?" He shivered. Kyle said, "Now calm down..." He looked at the name tag on the case, "...Seth. Calm. Down. I'm here to help." He pressed another button on the case and it opened the glass. "Here," Kyle said, reaching out his hand. Seth took it, weakly. Kyle pulled back almost immediately and breathed, "Oh no..." He quickly pressed a big red button on the case and said, "Uh, listen, your body temperature is WAAAY too low, so I called over some specialists to help you. While they are giving you medicine and warming you up, I'll just be right over here helping another person out of Stasis, okay?" Seth had no idea what he was talking about, but he could see a group of people coming his way. What a great way to start his summer vacation.

((Heh heh heh...sorry I didn't reply sooner, my dad took my phone away because I was up late last night replying. xD))

As soon as Seth's body had been warmed up, which was sooner than Kyle expected, he sat down in a chair. "Wha-wha-t ha-happened??" Kyle sat down in a chair next to him and told him all about the disease. "So, as you can see, there is nothing we can do...yet. And you have to stay here and learn how to...er...function properly again." He smiled and said, "So how about walkin' to that wall over there, eh buddy?" Seth wasn't finished yet, he needed to know more. "Where's Shaylin?!" "Who? Look buddy, all friend and family members from your past are assumed dead until we recover them from stasis sleep, until the-" He was cut off by Seth. Seth had stood up and slammed Kyle into the wall by his neck, choking him. Seth said clearly, through gritted teeth, "Where's. My. Sister." Kyle struggled, choking, and gasped, "Is th-that her??!?" His voice getting higher pitched every word. Seth looked at one of the glass cases to find a young girl, with olive colored skin, black curly hair like Seth's, and a small body. "Shayla!"

Name: Shaylin (Shayla) Baker

Age: (Don't add the 64 years to it, just what age they left off at)): 13

Looks: Just like Seth only smaller, more petite, cuter...female. xD She's very small, compared to everyone else, and can run really fast which is why Seth always keeps a good eye on her.


Personality: Shay usually keeps to herself. She has plenty of friends, but is horrible at talking, and usually just texts them to stay in touch. People always expect for her to have some cute dream, becoming a veterinarian or working at a bakery or something, but her dream is to become a designer of some sort...architect, interior designer, fashion designer, you name it! She always carries around a little notebook, drawing her designs.

Is your character from the past or present?: the Past

Some things s/he left behind (family members, friends, his/her dream, etc.): Her three other brothers, her drunk parents, and her designs. (She didn't have her notebook with her when she was put into Stasis.)

Seth dropped Kyle, and walked over to Shayla. "Here lemme just wake her up..." Seth turned fiercely towards Kyle again, and said, "Don't you dare touch her!" Kyle started to tell him of what could happen if she wasn't woken up properly, but decided just to let him have his way. He wasn't too fond of this 'Baker' family anyway. He walked out of the room and saw that someone else was on duty too. He walked in the room and said, "Hey-y! Liam, right? I'm Kyle, I've seen you working around here a couple times..." Kyle fake gasped, "...and who's this?" He smiled and held out his hand, "I'm Kyle."

Kyle shot Liam a glare. "Hey didn't your mom teach you not to gossip, Liam?" He rolled his eyes. He usually agreed with what people thought of him, but one thing he hated most was people talking about him behind his back. Kyle sighed and said, "Yep...that I do." He shuddered, remembering Seth. He turned to Liam and said, "Man, have you ever woken someone with a bad attitude? I just did." He rubbed his neck, which still hurt from Seth choking him. "and it hurts."

Kyle's smirk fell into a frown. Most people thought that Kyle was just a heartless bad boy, a ladies man, and cared for nothing but himself. But those were just what he used to cover up the hopeless wreck inside of him. He had been emotionally destroyed as a kid, when his dad left the family when he was only six. His mother died shortly after, which left Kyle and his brothers with his older cousin to look after them. Kyle, going to a new school many states away, was made fun of. The only way he saw to live was to turn to the bad side. So he joined a gang at school, bullied people, became a lady's man, and finally ran away from home when he was fourteen. Since then he had just been living wherever, in hotels, staying at work overnight, anywhere...he wasn't homeless. He was gone. Kyle shook his head and said, "Well! I've ran into quite a few of them myself...scared the living heck outta me, the first time. See, it was this real pretty girl...REAL pretty. And I helped her walk and talk and everything, and just when she had gained my trust as a good person, she pulled out a gun and pointed it at me. Security got to her before the bullet got to me...luckily."

Kyle laughed at their sarcastic joking. He winced a bit, knowing he couldn't leave Seth alone, and said, "Uh, Liam, do you think you could help me talk some sense into the brutal guy in the next room? I would do it myself, but he's also trying to wake up his sister." He shuddered, knowing what could happen to her.
Shayla's eyes bolted open. Her brother Seth was hitting the glass on her case with his bare fists. "S-Seth stop it!!!" She screamed, not being able to move. He saw she was awake, and hit it one last time. Well that one last time broke the glass completely. The sides around her bed were covered with shattered glass, and she had a few deep cuts on her arms and legs. But worst of all, the sudden exposure to the new world was too much for her lungs, and she couldn't breathe.
